Can A Vagina Be Loose? What Can I Do?

A vagina can accommodate a baby, a sex toy, a penis and in some cases, a cucumber. The remarkable thing is that it snaps back into its earlier shape. As you age and get older, it loses this elasticity, the ability to bounce back as is with everything in our bodies.

But is the vagina really elastic? Keep reading.

They Say Sex Can Widen The Vagina? Is This True?

One of the myths that is common in this part of the world is that you can tell a woman’s body count from how tight or how loose the vagina feels. This is false. Like we said earlier, the vagina is elastic. Think rubber band.

many people use the myth of a loose vagina to shame women for their sex lives. This is wrong and is far from the truth. Let us get one thing clear, sex will not stretch the vagina permanently.

During sex, if a woman is sufficiently aroused, the muscles around the vagina relax, she becomes lubricated and even elongates.

If this doesn’t happen, sex becomes uncomfortable and most women experience discomfort when penetration happens.

What of ChildBirth?

After a vaginal delivery, people notice that the vagina feels loose than it was before. This is normal, it might regain its original form in a couple of days. The looseness comes majorly from the muscles around the vagina that become lax especially after a couple of births.

Another Thing That Can Affect How Elastic Your Vagina Can Be Is Age

When you get older, your vagina may feel different. This is because your estrogen levels drop. This might make the vagina less elastic, drier, thinner. Some women report not feeling interested in sex any longer.

What Can I Do About It?

  1. Kegel Exercises: ‘

This exercise targets the pelvic muscles which give support to the vagina, but first of all, what are these pelvic muscles? To find them, try to stop urine while you are urinating. When you do, then do these;

  1. Contract your pelvic floor muscles. Hold the contraction for 5 seconds, relaxing for another 5 seconds.
  2. Repeat this step at least 5 times in a row.

As you build up strength, increase the time to 10 seconds. Try not to tighten your thighs, abs, or buttocks. Just focus on your pelvic floor.

For the best results, practice 3 sets of Kegels 5 to 10 times a day. You should see results within a few weeks.
