Eat a Balanced Diet

It is important that your plate starts to take care of your eyes, as there are certain nutrients that your eyes need to keep them healthy

This includes Omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, vitamin C, E, that contain antioxidants that help to prevent eye damage and ageing.

 

Carrots are not the best foods for your eyes, You actually need dark green leafy vegetables and fruits that contain more of Vitamins C and E

Stop Smoking 

Smoking makes it easier for you to get diseases like cataracts and even damage your optic nerve and also have other conditions like macular degeneration

Use the Blue Filter

Contained within the settings of modern phones and computers is what is called the blue light filter

This helps prevent the blue light from harming your eyes, there is new research that blue light from phones can negatively affect your eyes

 

Use the 20/20/20 rule

This rule was designed a Californian optometrist and was formed to help prevent eye strain

The rule says that for every 20 minutes spent looking at a screen, a person should look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Following the rule is a great way to remember to take frequent breaks. This should reduce eye strain caused by looking at digital screens for too long. It has been recommended by the American Optometric Association and the American Academy Of Opthalmology

 

Use Sunglasses

The sun emits UV rays that increase your chances of getting cataracts and even damage your macula

The macula is the part of your retina that gives you your best vision, it is the part of your eye that makes you in high definition, protect it by using sunglasses

 

Use EyeWear

If you work in construction or generally work in places that may harm your eyes, it is best to wear safety goggles to help protect your eye from damage

Hypertension and diabetes mellitus over a long period can lead to vision loss, you can protect your eyesight by checking your eyes and your body too
